It'll be interesting. Sometimes these kinds of lenses have pretty good coverage at one end of the zoom range. But expect a circular photo or at least very
dark, soft corners. Could be some good effects, but most images will surely need to be cropped.

Okay, out of curiosity, I just put my work-issued 18-135DX onto my full-frame Nikon F2. At 18mm, the image is nearly circular -- the transition from the edge
of the circle to pure black is fairly distinct ... in other words, light falloff isn't gradual but quite sudden -- like you're looking through a tube.
Zoomed out to 55mm, the light falloff is softer and the edges expand considerably to the point that the lens is nearly usable except for very dark corners.
Nothing really prevents you from using the lens on a full-frame camera. Does the 12-24 have manual aperture control? The 18-135 doesn't, and as a result there's no f/stop control on a manual camera. ... on my F2, the lens seems to default to stopped down all the way (f22?) which would make it a pain in the neck to use anywhere but in open sunlight. |

Try it on the E2... That will give you a quick indication of performance on a real camera...

VinceC wrote: I expected the same thing when I bought the 18-55mm DX, Nikon makes it sounds like that, they even go as far as saying it's incompatible... The 18-55mm doesn't do what you describe Vince, at the widest setting, the corners lose about 4 stops. Just like an old Photograph, with rounded corners. Brian, you need a DX lens..... Kiu |

The batteries charged up last night, I did have to "refresh" the batteries before charging them. I will take some pictures tonight.
Looking through the viewfinder, I see dark corners just like the N60 but not as bad, considering the E2 should have a 100% viewfinder(does it?), this is a surprise! The Petal shape hood that comes standard with this lens is not usable when mounted on a film cameras or the E series as it makes it's own dark corners!! It's obvious that the coverage of these so called DX lenses are slightly more than the size of the DX sensor. Kiu |
