Funny you should mention S2 prices. I have an opportunity to purchase an S2 from the same person who sold me my first S3. I'm sure it's nothing collectible, but in reasonable cosmetic shape, but functioning perfectly. No boxes or papers of course.
Any ROUGH idea what something like this would sell for (in US dollars)?
I believe he wants about $400.00 Canadian.

I believe it has a 50 that is no great shakes. No mind I've got lenses for it.
As for the colour of the dials, who knows? Red? Green? What does it matter? I assume chrome dialed S2's shoot the same as black dial S2's.
Remember, if I buy it, it's for shooting, not adoring.

Jon, I like having multiple bodies so I can have the three lenses I like shooting with, ready when I'm on the street, rather than having to switch lenses all the time, just as I've done for years with SLR's. Thus the purchase of the second S3 body (which was a bargain at $565.00 US, and which I still don't yet have in hand because I've not seen my friend from Michigan in a while) and possibly the S2 (which I may or may not buy for around $400.00.) The 50 that comes with it is a piece of junk according to the seller, but I don't care because I never use a 50 anyway. As for the F/F36 that is squirrelled away, it came from the camera store of a friend and he gave it to me at a very good price, considering the shape it's in, so I grabbed it, initially to shoot with. However, when I realized exactly what excellent shape the body was in, I decided that rather than mark it up by using it, I'd be better off trading/selling it for gear I want. I've seen the same set selling recently at a camera show for $1400.00 ( I paid $600.00). The body is black and pristine, quite collectible and I'm thinking of selling it, and having Mr. fung convert the F36 (which is not quite as pristine, but still very nice) into an S36 drive for one of my S3's. Now I've been given another F with eyelevel finder, and Ftn prism from my brother-in-law as well as a nice 50 1.4 and a PB-4 bellows, and a Minolta Maxxum 7000 and a couple of auto focus lenses that belonged to his sister who died last year. And just last week someone at work gave me a Chinon body and drive as a couple of screw-mount lenses, a Minolta 370X, and a couple of auto-focus point and shoot cameras, because I did them a favour. When my friend comes in from Michigan, I'll likely get him to sell the two F's, the bellows, and the Minolta stuff, and the Chinon stuff as I don't need any of it. The resulting funds would allow me to get a third S3 shooter body, rangefinder 105, and an SLR Nikkor 200 f4 micro. And no. I'm not a collector. Recently a lot of this stuff has come to me because of unexpected deaths in the family. Believe me, I'd be much happier if the circumstances were different, my brother-in-law didn't have cancer and his sister and cousin were still alive and I didn't have their gear. And as for the S2, I'm still not decided whether I'll buy it. While I hear its rangefinder is quite bright, I really like the S3, which handles essentially like an F and it seems to me that the S2 has some control quirks. And truthfully, I've never understood the affinity for them that so many people have. Me? I'd rather have S3's to shoot with. I only wish I could afford to satisfy my only camera aesthetic affectation, which is to purchase black bodies, as I really don't like chrome cameras.
