Nice Christmas present, Jon! Are you going to get a full frame digital to go with it? 
For my Christmas present I decided to skip adding any more gear, and go on a photo vacation instead. My better half and I will travel to Thailand (1 week) and Laos (2 weeks) leaving on the 22nd. I'm really looking forward to seeing the world heritage sites at Luang Prabang in Laos! Merry Christmas to you, and to the other forum members! Jon |

I checked Nikon USA website, I didn't even kow the 24-70mm F2.8 existed, I think your picture may be of the 28-70mm F2.8 
The 24-70 has ID stuff in the middle....I don't have either |

Being Jewish, we celebrate Channuka rather than Christmas, and as such we really shouldn't be exchanging gifts. However, we do it for the sake of the
younger members of the family who see their Christian friends getting gifts and wonder why they don't.
So we had a family get-together on Saturday and there was some exchanging of presents. I had been dropping some subtle hints about a black Olympic S3, Nikkor 50 1.1 and an S36 motordrive. Apparently, my hints were not broad enough because I got two pairs of socks. But to be fair, they did get something from my suggestions. The socks are black.
