I think it's Kiu's fault for the increase in S2 prices. His poll on what's your favorite Nikon rangefinder has the S2 as the favorite.

Does anyone care here if someone is a 'collector' versus a 'shooter', other than the 'pride' some individuals obviously take being in one or the other? Please.

Jon, I like having multiple bodies so I can have the three lenses I like shooting with, ready when I'm on the street, rather than having to switch lenses all the time, just as I've done for years with SLR's. Thus the purchase of the second S3 body (which was a bargain at $565.00 US, and which I still don't yet have in hand because I've not seen my friend from Michigan in a while) and possibly the S2 (which I may or may not buy for around $400.00.) The 50 that comes with it...

Robert, what's going on? First you buy an S3 with a 50. Then you buy a 21 and an 85 and said you were done. Then you buy a 2nd S3. Then I read that you've got unused F cameras in storage. Now you're looking to buy an S2 with a 50 as well? For someone who takes pretty much takes every opportunity to berate others for collecting, you've already got more cameras than one can use in a lifetime. Seems to me you're a collector but won't admit it!

I believe it has a 50 that is no great shakes. No mind I've got lenses for it.
As for the colour of the dials, who knows? Red? Green? What does it matter? I assume chrome dialed S2's shoot the same as black dial S2's.
Remember, if I buy it, it's for shooting, not adoring.

Funny you should mention S2 prices. I have an opportunity to purchase an S2 from the same person who sold me my first S3. I'm sure it's nothing collectible, but in reasonable cosmetic shape, but functioning perfectly. No boxes or papers of course.
Any ROUGH idea what something like this would sell for (in US dollars)?
I believe he wants about $400.00 Canadian.
