I think of mine as an interesting piece of engineering more than a collectible. As a "first", almost experimental camera, it is a collectible to some. I kept the box.

My user F3AF is fitted with an HP finder. The DX-1is in mint condition. I paid $500 for the whole outfit, including an MD-4 and MF-14: about 10 years ago. It's been a great user. i bought a TC16AF just to watch the DX-1 work. But I don't use it. There were two versions of the DX-1, the later versions had an on/off switch. Mine is one of the first couple hundred. Does not stop me from using it.

Or one can just get a run of the mill F3 and be done with it.

Wow Kiu, that is one UGLY camera! It's a collectible to some for sure, and there's bound to be someone out there who has some love for it, so I'm guessing it might break the 100,000 yen mark.

Kiu, For you? Definitely, because you are a collector, and I assume Nikon didn't produce all that many of these, so by definition..... For me? not in a million years. First, I'm a user, and underwhelmed by the F3 in whatever variation you speak of. And second, I only buy photo gear to shoot with, nothing more.
