Most other forums run a W/NW forum as a string of images with a common theme, and a minimum of commentary. I thought the interesting twist on this forum would
be to post sample images based on lens used. A mix of imagery to display how the equipment is used on what is a gear-oriented forum.

Many sites also have a forum for users posting images for critique. The poster is looking for feedback on their image, good or bad.

Rather than "gear forum" I probably should have more accurately said that this is a "tool" forum. We've found that Nikon gives us the
tools we need to take good photographs. One of the reasons I'm rather fond of Nikon rangefinders is that development effectivley stopped 50 years ago.
There's no chasing after the latest lens or the latest electronic improvement. It's a camera I know well, with capable lenses I know well, immune from
gear-driven matters...

VinceC,
A very valid point that I overlooked, (Should I say,"in my opinion?" ). The context that the photo was take in is certainly an important factor.
Eddie Adams shot, Capa's or D.D. Duncans shots, or for that matter, any of the news/war photogs shots, have to be viewed in a different light due the
difficulty and danger involved. I can admire them for the difficulty or the capturing of the moment in time, and yet......not appreciate the technical aspects.
ESPECIALY if it...

It's hard to say what this message board is! And that's coming from the founder!!
First, I think it's too early to say which direction the board is going, for now, seems like the emphasis on posting pictures is more than talking gear.
Second, talking gear could be consistant with taking pictures. Jon R. just posted a question regarding using a full frame fish-eye on a Digital Nikon...to me
it's not gear talk but directly related to taking pictures too.

Third, we...

If you are correct that this is a gear site, (and believe me when I say that it is my fervent hope that you are wrong) then I'll simply post shots and

Words/No Words should remain without critique.

This is a gear forum. Certainly people like Nkon because its consistency of quality makes Nikons dependable tools for good photography. But I like that this is
a gear forum.

When I can figure out which lens took which photo, I prefer to post my photos by lens. Among other things, I like to show that 50-year-old lenses are capable
of taking the kinds of photos I like to take -- a mixture of portraiture and action. I gravitated...

Kiu,
Thanks, but no thanks.
I would never accept the post of House Critic because first, as Lovemy Nikons has pointed out, impressions of any artform are to a great extent extremely
subjective, and thus who am I to set myself up as the Final Authority on what is good, bad or indifferent. While I may have more experience at this sort of
thing than many of the others who post here, that is no reason to suppose that everything I say is correct. Besides, I have neither the time or...

I am personnaly pretty bad at recording exposure data, I almost never do it, however, I do remember the type of film I use and the camera and lens, at least I
